I write original copy for marketing and PR materials or revise and polish existing copy that needs to be better than it is. I also provide a service I call "Writing Repair" for companies whose employees don't have adequate English writing skills. I don't teach people how to be better writers; I just make their writing good. That service is especially useful in our Southern California workforce where many people are using English as a second language and could use some writing support.

Who is your customer?

Any business that needs marketing/PR materials written or improved. Any marketing, PR, advertising, or website design company that outsources copy writing. Any business whose employees need writing support.

How did you come up with the idea for your business?

I've written pieces for every company I've worked for and every volunteer organization I've joined. It's just something I love to do. I might have been content to leave it as a hobby, but during the years I worked for large international firms, I was often asked to help colleagues when they had to write something important in English. Writing workshops and classes only took them so far. In the end, their writing was still not up to high business standards. I recognized there was an unfilled need and that I had a solution. So I decided to combine my copy writing skills with my writing support experience and offer a variety of writing services.

How long have you been in business?

I went through several incarnations before I settled on the combination of services I'm offering now. I'd say I landed here about 12-15 months ago.

What's been your greatest moment so far? (i.e. Signing your first client, getting the big order, some great PR?)

The day my blog got 12,000 hits because my article "When You Can't Get Started Writing" went viral.

What was your biggest mistake?

Not joining a good networking group sooner.

What was your smartest move?

Joining NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners)

What are your business plans? (i.e. Expansion, franchising, selling for a gazillion dollars?)

Right now, I'm building a clientele. I'm forming relationships with marketing/PR/advertising/ website design companies that interact with clients who need writing.
