What is the name of your business?
Right Track GPS, LLC
What is your website URL?
http://www.righttrackgps.net
Where is your business based?
Corona Del Mar, CA
What is your name? (We prefer your full first and last name but you can use either, or even a nick-name.)
Steve Mattoon
Describe your business (product, service, quirky things you want to include, etc.)
Monitoring Teen Driving is now the easiest and most EFFECTIVE method in reducing the high-risk driving behaviors of today's Teens. GPS monitors allow parents to know where their Teen Driver is... and how fast they drive. SOME of the features include the ability for Parents to set "geo-fences" and "speed settings" so when their driver drives outside of agreed mileage boundaries or beyond set speeds, parents receive "alerts" to their cell phone.
Who is your customer?
Parents of Teen Drivers and Owners of Fleets of vehicles who want to manage their vehicle uses and know where their drivers are 24/7.
How did you come up with the idea for your business?
As my own teen is encroaching toward driving age, I researched and found the alarming statistics surrounding Teen Drivers. Teen Drivers are 10 times more likely to be involved in an auto accident. Car crashes are the leading cause of death and injury to Teens ages 16-20. We lose over 6,000 Teenagers each year to car crashes and another 300,000 are seriously injured!
Parents don't know about or use the technology that can monitor and provide the critically important tool for needed feedback to their teen drivers!
How long have you been in business?
Launched the Business in December, 2008.
What's been your greatest moment so far? (i.e. Signing your first client, getting the big order, some great PR?)
"Realizing that after a parent installs our product, their Teenage Drivers have immediately changed some of their driving behaviors." We are saving Teen Lives.
What was your biggest mistake?
Thinking that most parents would do anything to improve the driving behaviors of their Teen Driver! I am shocked that many parents want to be their friend... instead of taking an active role in monitoring and giving Teens feedback about speeding and driving with other Teens.
What was your smartest move?
Getting smarter each day...
What are your business plans? (i.e. Expansion, franchising, selling for a gazillion dollars?)
Building an organization that compensates Moms (parents) for getting involved and spreading the word about how this product can help them save their Teen Driver's life. We pay Parents referral commissions who refer our products to other parents.
Are you willing to answer questions about your business from other small business owners?
Yes

It's Time To Save Our Teen Drivers - Now!

The ability to keep our kids safe should be the number one priority for most parents, but I am still astonished at the passive responses from parents of Teens -- neglecting to DO SOMETHING to address the highest probability of the death or serious injury to THEIR Teen TODAY -- automobile accidents.

I continue to hear all kinds of expressions of denial. "But my teen is a good kid." "He/she drives safely." "I trust them." "Those kids are drinking and driving and my kid doesn't drink."

The fact i… Continue
