Drug and Alcohol Abuse - Treatment Compliance Verification Polygraph

Drug and Alcohol Abuse Polygraphs are an ideal instrument for the treatment of drug and/or alcohol addictions. The types of polygraphs available for persons with a dependency on these types of addictions are:

Drug and/or Alcohol History Polygraph
A Drug and/or Alcohol History Polygraph is utilized to determine the examinees entire history of drug and/or drug use. Whether the drug of choice is prescription or illegal narcotics, beer, wine, liquors, cough syrups or medications that contain alcohol, all information is reported to the polygraph examiner and treatment provider in the form of a written document. In addition to the type of drug of choice, a comprehensive investigation into the method of use will also be explored.

Behaviors that the client may not admit to, will be explored to further help the therapist break through the cycle of denial many addicts experience before seeking help. Behaviors such as deliberate seclusion, lying, stealing, black-outs, will also be explored, as it relates to the drug and/or alcohol addiction.

Once the drug history questionnaire has been completed, it must be reviewed and discussed with the therapist to ensure completeness and disclosure by the therapist. The client can then be polygraphed to ensure honesty to all drug history questions, prior to starting therapy.

Drug Use Monitoring Polygraph
Drug Monitoring Polygraphs are used while the client is in treatment. This useful program is to determine whether or not the client has engaged in any drug activity that has not or could not be detected by other means. According to treatment provider instructions, testing may be administered to determine if the client is engaging in any type of behavior not conducive to therapy. A sample of behavior not conducive to therapy would include attending parties, bars, clubs, or gatherings where tempting behavior such as drug and alcohol consumption is taking place.

Additional testing, at the discretion and request of the therapist, may include ensuring the client has not begun a cycle of potentially dangerous “transfer addiction” from drugs and/or alcohol to other kinds of potentially dangerous addictions, such as over-eating, sexual addictions, gambling, and compulsive shopping behaviors.
